A nation’s future rests in its youth, and investing in young people is a powerful way to build strong future leaders. Football, one of the most popular sports worldwide, is also Ethiopia’s favorite sport. Although Ethiopia may not yet rank among Africa’s top footballing nations, it has produced impressive teams and talented players who have achieved national and international success. Football, as a unifying sport, has the unique power to bring together people from different backgrounds, bridging racial and cultural divides and fostering unity.
Today’s youth face numerous challenges, including unemployment and economic hardship, leading many to feel disheartened. Without opportunities, some turn to activities like drug abuse, crime, or other destructive behaviors. Recognizing this, Raey Football Academy (RFA) was founded to empower young people through sports. The academy believes in nurturing the talents of young individuals, helping them shine like polished diamonds, for their benefit and that of the community. Our goal is to provide opportunities for both boys and girls to develop their football talents in junior and senior categories.
Raey Football Academy, licensed by the Sports and Youth Office of the Addis Ababa City Administration in October 2012, is committed to enhancing the physical well-being and athletic skills of children and teens through football. Open to youths from all backgrounds, RFA currently provides football training across six age groups (U6, U8, U10, U13, U15, and U18 years) on fields in the Jemo, Kore, and Sarbet areas of Addis Ababa.

Long-Term Plans
- Establish a leading football academy in Ethiopia.
- Develop the club into a competitive team for the Ethiopian Premier League.
- Facilitate player transfers to clubs abroad and build international relationships.
- Operate the club on a public basis, fostering community involvement.
Key Achievements
- Participation in local competitions organized by the Addis Ababa Football Federation and other organizers.
- Represented Addis Ababa in the Ethiopian Club Championship in Jigjiga.
- Developed 8 players who have advanced to play in the premier, super, and national leagues, including two players for the national youth team.
- Emphasized holistic development of players, resulting in positive outcomes, especially in ethics and education. Many players have attended and graduated from universities and professional institutes, with attentive support and monitoring for their personal development.
- Involved players in charitable activities, such as tree planting, food donations, and collecting clothes for those in need.
- Supported student players who could not afford their yearbooks.
- Organized life skills training during summer camps, providing essential guidance for players' futures.
